The IEDA Foundation
WHO WE ARE
Established in the spring of 2022, the IEDA Foundation is a non-profit, 501 c3 organization focused on helping close the skilled workforce gap in the heavy construction equipment industry.
The Foundation is an action-oriented, change-making organization: Since its inception, it has awarded 20 scholarships ($5,000 each) to well-deserving diesel tech students throughout the U.S.
Each fall, the Foundation invites heavy diesel program instructors at technical colleges around the country to announce the IEDA Foundation scholarship to their students. Through a meticulously-managed application and judging process, winners are selected by December every year and announced at the Annual Meeting in February.
IEDA board members as well as IEDA’s executive director visit each winner in person to award their scholarship check and offer personal congratulations to the student, their instructors, and families.

Life for full-time students in heavy diesel tech programs can be dicey.
They love what they’re learning and they work hard to succeed. Heavy equipment is what they’re wired for.
But for many, preparing for their repair careers in our industry is a juggle and a struggle.
A lot of these student techs are toggling between school, work, and family/household responsibilities – you might even remember what that felt like in your own life.
And then the boom drops. They get the letter: Tuition is coming due.
For some, that can trigger a sense of panic –– “Where am I going to get the money?”
This is where the IEDA community steps in.
The Foundation’s $5,000 scholarships are life boats that arrive just in time. In some cases, that sum of money actually covers a full half of the tuition bill for their entire two-year program!
Just to be clear: The Foundation’s scholarships are MERIT scholarships –– while we are certainly meeting a financial need, we are also rewarding the best and the brightest who are going to make a positive contribution to our industry as career service technicians.
