NER Warns Against Winter Equipment Theft

Source: ARA | American Rental Association The National Equipment Register (NER) has issued a winter equipment theft advisory warning for those in the rental industry about the risk of theft during the colder months. According to NER, the winter months can be surprisingly active for crimes targeting heavy equipment across the U.S. and Canada. To help, NER is offering information on common trends including equipment rental fraud, theft of equipment staged for snow removal, and burglary of job sites, yards and dealerships. Equipment Rental Fraud Theft of heavy equipment through fraudulent rental and rental conversion has been a major issue since a surge in these crimes began in 2018.
