Home Builder Confidence Edges Higher in December

The National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI) rose one point in December to 84, as buyer traffic picked up toward the end of the year. Traffic likely was boosted by unseasonably mild weather and buyers trying to stay one step ahead of the Fed, which is widely expected to accelerate its timetable for removing the extraordinary stimulus put in place during the pandemic and raise interest rates.
